Our investment into api.video
Video is quickly becoming the preferred way for consumers to receive information. This is reflected in the rise of consumer social media platforms such as Snapchat and TikTok as well as the increasing prevalence of video in mobile advertising, education and many other sectors. Indeed, users spend 88% more time browsing on websites with videos, and according to Cisco, 82% of consumer internet traffic will be video this year.

Reacting to this surge in demand, software product builders have been scrambling to include video features in their offering, be it event-related, education/training, sales and marketing or even instruction manuals. Building a video product however is highly complex, forcing one to navigate and combine a large assortment of tools for ingestion, transcoding, storage, streaming etc.

Luckily there is a solution! With a few lines of code (unlike alternatives), api.video enables product builders to allow their users to upload videos in the product easily. Api.video takes care of the video infrastructure hassle and allows developers to focus on their core competence. There is strong growth to be expected in the space and several companies are likely to achieve significant scale.

OpenOcean has a long history of investing in data infrastructure, of which video has rapidly become a critical part. As such it makes perfect sense to be part of the video revolution together with the founder Cedric Montet and his ambitious team in France!
